Ravi used to volunteer for Thunberg’s Fridays for Future (FFF) organisation in Bengaluru. She was arrested in the 'toolkit' case earlier this month, was given bail on Tuesday afternoon, subject two sureties of ₹ 1 lakh each.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">who was produced before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Pankaj Sharma by police at the expiry of her three-day judicial custody on Monday, was remanded to one-day police custody. Her remand ended today.

The Delhi Police has accused Ms Ravi, who was arrested from her home in Bengaluru last week, and activists Nikita Jacob and Shantanu Muluk of collaborating with the pro-Khalistani group Poetic Justice Foundation for creating the "toolkit" - allegedly linked to the farmers' protest on January 26 - to trigger dissatisfaction against the government. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">They have also accused the three of trying to revive a pro-Khalistani group.

<b>Patna, Feb 22 (PTI) </b>Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today lambasted RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, terming his state-wide "Nyay Yatra" as a flop and charging him with making "absurd statements to gain sympathy".

The senior BJP leader was responding to allegations by Yadav, the leader of the opposition in the state assembly, that the Nitish Kumar government was getting his phones tapped and attempts had been made to lace his food with poisonous and narcotic substances.

"Who would dare to touch a person whose elder brother had the temerity to threaten that the Prime Minister would be skinned", Sushil remarked sarcastically in a tweet. </div>

The Bihar Deputy CM was referring to the outbursts of Tej Pratap Yadav, Tejashwi's elder brother, who had said in November last year that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be skinned if his father and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad suffered any physical harm after downgrading of security cover.

"It is a family which remained in power for 15 years, recalling which people of Bihar still shudder. Whom do people, who became MLAs and ministers by virtue of the family's dynasty politics, fear for their lives", Sushil added.

After the Grand Alliance's victory in the 2015 assembly polls in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav had become the Deputy CM while Tej Pratap was made the health minister. The two brothers had made successful electoral debut in the polls. </div>

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar walked out of the alliance last year following corruption cases against Tejashwi Yadav and formed a new government with the BJP.

"People are making absurd statements to gain sympathy after the Nyay Yatra has turned out to be a flop", Sushil Modi said in response to Tejashwi Yadav's allegation yesterday that the Nitish Kumar government had hatched a "serious conspiracy" to derail his state-wide tour. </div>

They had been misusing their political position to grab land and build malls, flats and farm houses".

The entire family of Lalu Prasad is facing probe by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate in cases relating to money laundering and benami land transactions. </div>

<b>Chennai, Feb 24 (PTI) </b>Veteran journalist and editor-in-chief of Delhi-based National Herald, Neelabh Mishra, died at a private hospital here today following an illness.

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi condoled the demise of Mishra, and described him an as "editor's editor."

"National Herald announces the passing away of our editor-in-chief, leader and friend Neelabh Mishra, aged 57, on February 24. </div>

He is survived by his long-time partner Kavita Srivastava, brother Shailoj Kumar, sister-in-law Sudha, and niece Nawasha," a statement put up on the 'National Herald' website said.

Mishra, who was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai earlier this month, "was critically ill with complications resulting from non-alcoholic liver cirrhosis," it said.

"He developed multiple organ failure before a liver transplant could be carried out. He breathed his last (today) surrounded by his relatives, friends and comrades," the statement said. </div>

His cremation is scheduled at Nungambakkam here later in the day, sources close to him said.

In 2016, Mishra 'steered' the re-launch of National Herald, founded by former prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, as a digital news website, the statement said. </div>

Last year, he re-launched the 'National Herald on Sunday' newspaper, and then its sister publications 'Navjivan' and 'Qaumi Awaz' as news websites, the statement added. </div>

Mishra started off his over three decades of journalistic career as a reporter with 'Navbharat Times' in his hometown Patna in Bihar and later moved to Rajasthan as the Jaipur correspondent for 'News Time'.

He also set up Eenadu TV in Rajasthan in 1998, it said adding, prior to his stint in 'National Herald', he worked as Editor of 'Outlook Hindi' for several years.

Meanwhile, Gandhi condoled the death of Mishra.

"I would like to request this Modi (Prime Minister), on behalf of all of us, to bring back the other (Nirav) Modi when he goes on another of his many foreign trips. </div>

"... Nirav Modi sold diamonds, which are the stuff he claims dreams are made of. In fact, one can say he sold dreams to many people, including the government which happily slept while (Nirav) Modi ran away with the public's hard-earned money," he said.

"Farmers thought their hard work would be respected and their produce get a fair price; tribals felt they would also get equal share and their land, traditions, and culture would be protected." </div>

<b>New Delhi (PTI):</b> The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved the setting up of a tribunal to resolve the dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh over the sharing of Mahanadi river water, official sources said.

The decision by the Cabinet comes following the Supreme Court directive to the Centre last month to form the tribunal within a month to resolve the long-standing dispute. </div>

The Odisha Government had moved the court in December, 2016, seeking an order asking Chhattisgarh to stop its construction work in projects on the upstream of Mahanadi, saying it had affected the river flow in the state.

It had also pitched for setting up of the tribunal.The tribunal would determine water sharing among basin States on the basis of the overall availability of water in the complete Mahanadi basin, contribution of each State, the present utilisation of water resource in each state and the potential for future development, official sources said. </div>

According to an official statement, the tribunal shall consist of a chairman and two other members nominated by the Chief Justice of India from amongst the judges of the Supreme Court or High Court.

Further, services of two assessors —water resources experts having experience in handling sensitive water-related issues -- will be provided to advise the tribunal in its proceedings, it said. </div>

As per provisions of the Inter State River Water Disputes (ISRWD) Act, 1956, the tribunal is required to submit its report and decision within a period of three years, which can be extended for a period not exceeding two years due to "unavoidable reasons".</div>

The agency alleged in the FIR that Choksi and his three companies — Gitanjali Gems, Gili India and Nakshatra Brand — swindled PNB to the tune of Rs 4,886.72 crore in 2017-18. This was done by getting 143 Letters of Understanding (LoU) issued through the bank.</div>

Banerjee's apology followed his visit to the state chief electoral officer, accompanied by BJP state president Rahul Sinha, after the EC asked party president Amit Shah to explain by September 25 Banerjee's remark that the poll panel was now under the party's control.</div>

3 Pakistan boys cross into Indian territory, to be sent back home

The boys identified themselves as Salim, Sajan and Saaval and said they trespassed the border while while searching for their missing cattle, he said.</div>

"They children entered into Indian territory from under fencing by digging land. During the interrogation, they said they were searching for missing cattle. They slept near the border area after trespassing the border and were roaming in the Kishagarh area when they were nabbed.</div>

When Pakistan launched a full-scale war against India in 1965 and prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri announced a "fitting reply", Army commanders were quick in deciding India would also capture enemy land to get an edge in international negotiations which they felt would be inevitable after the conflict ended.

This is one of many accounts in this book, which has been written by Rawat after speaking to a number of veterans.

The book includes five key battles from the 1965 war and is backed by extensive research, interviews and profiles of war veterans, and has been termed by the Indian Army as an "authoritative narrative" of the conflict.

"On the morning of 1 September 1965, the nation woke up to a startling announcement on All India Radio. Pakistan has launched a massive attack with tanks and heavy artilley in the Chamb sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The enemy's objective seems to be the strategic Akhnoor Bridge. Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri has declared that Pakistan will be given a fitting reply by Indian Army," the book says.

It quotes Lt. Gen. Harbaksh Singh, the Western Command chief, terming this "the tallest of decisions taken by one of the shortest of men".

"The general outline of the 'fitting reply' that Lt. Gen. Harbaksh Singh drew up had the Indian Army holding ground as close to the international border as possible in the Punjab and Rajasthan sectors and destroying any enemy that crossed over. He also planned on crossing the International Border and acquiring a large chunk of enemy territory which would give India a bargaining level in the political talks that would be inevitable after the war was over," the book says.

In its account of the Battle of Asal Uttar, the book says Company Quartermaster Havildar Abdul Hamid was on his recoilless gun, less than 30 metres from the road with his jeep hidden under the cotton crop.

As the first tank came within shooting range, CQMH Hamid fired, setting the tank ablaze.

"We were surprised to see the crew of two more tanks that were following, abandon their tanks and flee," the book quotes Lt. Col. Hari Ram Janu (retd) as saying.

"We then realised that the Pakistanis fear of being burned alive since their religion says that makes them kafirs," he added.

On the first day, Indian soldiers destroyed four tanks by recoilless-gun fire and five were abandoned.

Some mines were laid down in the night, but the Grenadiers could hardly sleep when Sabre jets started flying over. The next day saw more tank attacks, with India disabling at least four more, while some were destroyed by the mines.

The following day saw CQMH Hamid destroy his sixth tank. He spotted the seventh tank at the same time it spotted him.

"There was no time to change position in the face of relentless artillery fire. Telling his driver and loader to get under cover, he aimed. Simultaneous explosions rent the air - the tank as well as Hamid's jeep blew up simultaneously," the book says.

The book also details the battles of Haji Pir, Phillora, Barki, and Dograi - all through the eyes of the veterans who were in the thick of the action.
